Morocco part 3 the Finale. Exploring Essaouira
Part 1 - Marrakesh ruclips.net/video/Xh3Q3vDT7ZQ/видео.html
Part 2 - Into the Desert ruclips.net/video/kAHg6Vl_ca0/видео.html
It had been about 7 years since I had been in Essaouira, last time I lived there for a month in a locals house in the backstreets, this time we were mostly checking out the old town, with some deviations and exploring outside too of course.
Essaouira is a beautiful city in a beautiful place, and the food is usually good, but much like seven years ago, I got food poisoning, as did Calina, which made for some difficult days. Still we got to see some great sites, have a hamam, and take in the coastal vibe.

Morocco part 2: Into the Desert
Просмотров 2,3 тыс.4 месяца назад
We booked on a 3 day tour out of Marrakesh, heading South through the Atlas Mountains, towards the border with Algeria and the famous Sand dunes of Erg Chebbi. On the way we stop to see mud cities built hundreds of years ago (Aït Benhaddou), a green oasis in the desert (Tinghir), an impressive Gorge (The Todgha Gorges), before getting to the main attraction, around 560km away from Marrakesh, ri...

After being apart for 6 months, Calina and I decided to head to Morocco for our reunion, and spend 2 weeks backpacking around parts of the country. This was my second time here, and once you have been to Morocco, especially Marrakesh, it gets into your blood! It is a crazy place that often leaves you exasperated and ready to leave, or at least find some quite, but it is also and incredible feas...
End of van life 2022 pt15 Romania to England

And so Van life comes to an end in 2022. I made my way back to Brasov in Romania, and after some time on my own and a good few hike and fly's and gym session, Simon came over and did some more flying with me. The weather wasn't great but we managed to get a few in, and did a bit of exploring to boot. Always great to have friends along for the ride! After that it was off to England to see my mum...

Calina was off to Iceland again, and so I was planning to hang around Bulgaria for 3 months and do some flying. Still it was great to have Simon there to keep me company and for him to get some grea...

finishing off our 2022 van life together, we drove back to Bulgaria where Calina had booked a flight from for her trip to Iceland to work for 5 months. We still had a bit of time together though and so after a quick stop in Sofia, we drove out to Sopot, a popular paragliding spot. Unfortunately it was extremely hard to get to launch, so although I had a couple flights Calina didn't, and after a...

They are so well preserved and in the exact location they were found under a burial mound, very impressive. Unfortunately th...

Moving along we met up with friends Danni and Ramona who were also in their campervan. We went to Nestos Gorge and had a great little flight. Onwards we made our way to Drama further north, primarily so I could meet up with Owen and ...

After our quick move through Bulgaria, seeing a few bits here and there, our gambit of searching for warmer weather paid off when we crossed the border and made our way to the town of Vasiliki, an absolute hidden gem in Greece, the towns most notable feature is the ancient Roman Aqueduct which you drive through to enter, but then it just keeps giving. Hello, do you remember the name of agency you booked the tour with?

    • @TyrhoneTubbs
      @TyrhoneTubbs Месяц назад

      Hi, we booked through our hotel, but basically they all use the same companies and when the tour starts they just throw you on any bus that has space. I really wouldn't suggest the tour we went on (not the agency the actual tour), because they really rush you and you don't get to fully enjoy it. Try and get to the spots on your own if you can and spend an evening at the various spots, time allowing of course.

    Greetings.. Beautiful country that should not be missed, but better without tourist tours, better to rent a vehicle, between cities there are many Riads, Hotels, Restaurants, etc. On organized trips, you only see super tourist areas and there is hardly time to enjoy everything the country offers. Those 3-day tours are very heavy, Merzouga/Zagora is more than 550 km from Marrakech and takes more than 8 hours (separate stops). A beating for the body..

    • @TyrhoneTubbs
      @TyrhoneTubbs Месяц назад

      Yeah for sure knowing what I know now I would just have picked a couple things and gone on our own, the tour is way to rushed to fully appreciate the sites.

  • @J.G.V.610

    Nice area, the bad thing is that it is too touristy... Your thing is to rent a vehicle and go on your own, three days is very little time to enjoy everything the area offers. 560 km in Morocco are many kilometers.

      @TyrhoneTubbs 3 месяца назад

      100% agree! If I was to do it again for sure it would be solo. The tour was like herding cattle, we still saw some cool stuff but we would have happily taken a week to see what we did, and then all the stuff I know we missed being rushed around. Next time!

      Boring! Curious what revs your engine then :) ;). Well it's a cool natural sort of area, and I remember there was something called the Rainbow River a few hours drive away which is a tourist attraction. We also rented scooters and rode to Cocora Valley to see the tallest palm trees in the world. I think I have a video on here with it. It's a cool spot to spend some time but not sure you would go there just for tourism, there is more tourism in the north with things like the hike to the Lost City which was really cool. I do have a video on here with that.

    4:49 That's why all paragliders should have handles on the rear risers. It's hard to grab _just_ the rear risers _quickly_ on a windy landing. I don't know why the handles are not the rule.

    • @TyrhoneTubbs
      @TyrhoneTubbs 8 месяцев назад

      For sure that would have helped, I always try now to lok at them a few meters before when it is windy, and then just before touch down I put my hands on them ready to grab. Maybe handles would be more prone to getting tangled in the lines or something? But the higher rated gliders have them don't they so probably not. Maybe in the next generation!

Annoying but understandable.
